Brush and Bow - Art + Music
RIverbend Ensemble presented a unique double-header of string quartet music fused with art, performed across two evenings in August. “Brush and Bow – Art + Music” comprised two events which juxtapose music and artists painting live, and music accompanied by projections of art. The first concert was a relaxed performance event at Corinda Bowls Club, at 6pm on Friday 23 August; where Riverbend Ensemble perform whilst a group of nine artists paint in response to the music.
Artists painting on the night : Jane Thompson, Bolinda Dalziel, Magenta Quinn, Kath McCann, Abbie White, Sarah Greenwood, Rhiannon Hetherington, Rachel Dioso- Villa and Janelle Smith.
A selection of the finished works will be on display at the Corinda Library from September 9 to September 28.
On Saturday 24 August at 7pm, the same program was performed in a different display of art and music interaction. Graceville Uniting Church was the venue for a concert accompanied by projections on screen of art by award-winning artist Kate Marek.
The program for these events was entirely Australian string quartet music, with two new commissions by Thomas Green and Rachel Merton. Works by Robert Davidson, Alice Chance, Elena Kats-Chernin and Corrina Bonshek completed the program.
Above are some of the marvellous images curated by Terry Oberg and the artist Kate Marek, as they appeared on screen.
